Connect Right: Tunes, Trees & 'Tude

2017 was a roller coaster of a year. I learned so many things about myself, this city I call home, and the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. One thing that has been consistent for me is the power of connectivity. Connecting with other creatives, friends of friends, that ambitious/charming coffee shop owner, or small floral shop owner that spreads beauty by putting together the perfect arrangement. In 2018, I want to share this sense of connectivity with you. Each week I will share one local spot/shop/scenic place that I enjoyed and I think you will too. What else? Music. If you read this Girls Night In article, you know that music fuels my day. It keeps me on track when editing, planning, and brainstorming. I can't imagine a world without it. Plus, each week I'll change up the third section from who I'm crushing on to where my wanderlust is drawing me to, and so many more.

Another week full of opportunity. Here's to you!

CONNECT RIGHT: EDITION #1

WHERE YOU SHOULD PICK UP A NEW GREEN FRIEND FOR YOUR APARTMENT...

Botanologica.

You might have seen me post about this beautiful little shop last week. I went in to cover a shoot for a magazine, and fell immediately in love.  Julie and Holly have turned this shop into a home you never want to leave. From decorative pieces for your coffee table to air plants and throws that will add the perfect accent. Stay tuned for their feature in Arlington Magazine to read more! Until then, stop in and say hi and pick yourself up a Phil (my new mini palm tree - thanks to @plantinumva for the suggestion)!

WHAT I'M LISTENING TO THIS WEEK...

City of the Sun.

I stumbled upon them thanks to the Spotify "Discover Weekly" feature, which has lead me to so many amazing artists. I was cooling down from a run and a song came on that literally made me stop in my tracks. Needless to say, I had to check out the rest of their albums and stalk them to know who these talented humans were. I happened to stumble upon them the same week they were coming to DC for a show at Songbyrd Cafe, which to me was fate, so of course I went. Every time I put this album on I instantly feel the same electric vibe I felt when I saw them live. This album is amazing for working, working out, driving, staring aimlessly into a crowd at a coffee shop, really the opportunities are endless. I've listened to Young Folks and While We Are Young probably 100 times in the past month. Give these young Brooklyn guys a listen!

WHERE I'M DRAWING DAILY INSPIRATION FROM...

Words of Women.

Male, female, human, hero - whoever you are, these words will give you that extra push, comfort, or meditative thought you need to just be present and be the amazing wonder you are.

I find it helpful to read words from those who have been there before, because no one really knows exactly what it is they are doing, right?
